Actor Matteo Guidicelli admitted competing in this year’s Cobra Ironman 70.3 Asia-Pacific triathlon in Cebu was “super tough” for him, as he only had two weeks to prepare for the race.
In an interview after finishing the race on Sunday, Guidicelli shared that he found all three legs of the competition very challenging.
“It was a tough race. I wasn’t prepared, I only had two weeks for it so I said to myself ipe-pace ko lang talaga. I won’t push too hard. So I did that. It was tough eh. If I went too fast, alam ko hindi ko talaga matatapos,” he said.
When he was doing the last three kilometers of the run, Guidicelli said he could not help but feel emotional.
“Tiniis ko na talaga. Pumikit na ako. Nakakaiyak nga eh. I prayed the whole way going back home,” he said.
Asked what inspired him to finish the race, he said: “Yung mga Cebuanos dito. Sobrang nakakatuwa sila. I was so tired, I wanted to walk but because of them, I did not walk.”
It took Guidicelli around five hours and 30 minutes to finish the race. Nonetheless, he was happy about his performance.
This, despite the fact that his girlfriend, singer-actress Sarah Geronimo, wasn’t around this time to give him a huge hug at the finish line.
“I’m happy she’s abroad taking a vacation for herself. It’s good for her also,” he said.(MNS)
