Staging a major solo concert at the Araneta Coliseum has always been part of Morissette Amon’s bucket list even before she started her singing career.
“It has always been my dream, before all the other new venues came like MOA Arena, Philippine Arena. Bilang isang probinsyana from Cebu, when you hear kasi of Araneta, iyon na talaga ang pinaka-main concert hall for the greatest performers locally or internationally,” she said.
Now that she’s given the opportunity to stage her own show at the Big Dome, Amon said she would like to be able to do what her singing idols have been doing when performing.
“Iyong mga idol mo pinapanood mo sila doing what they love and sharing it to everybody. Ako as an audience [member] and as an aspiring singer, parang gusto ko ganyan din ako. The feeling that they give me as a [part of the] audience, gusto ko ganun din ang maibigay ko,” she said.
Amon went on to admit that preparing for an Araneta concert is overwhelming.
“We are living the dream of staging a concert at the Big Dome. It’s very overwhelming, the whole process. Ngayon, less than a month na lang before February 20 and we are still working on a lot of stuff. We don’t want to stop kasi sa mga naplano na namin before. We want it to grow pa, what else we can do,” she said.
Fortunately, Amon is able to work with people who are open to her ideas on how to improve the show.
“If this happened earlier in my life, I think I wouldn’t be ready, not as equipped and knowledgeable as to what to do on stage, how to give out my heart to people. I am just really grateful that it came at a time na ang dami ko nang napagdaanan din, not just as an artist but as a person as well,” she said.
Titled “Morissette is Made,” her show will be held on February 20. (MNS)
