MANILA, Aug 1 (Mabuhay) — President Rodrigo Duterte on Sunday told members of the Presidential Security Group (PSG) to put loyalty to the Constitution above personal loyalty in the performance of their duties.

“I am happy that you secure my person but just the same, I would like to caution everybody that I do not cultivate adoration or personal loyalty,” Duterte said.

“Just remain loyal to the Constitution and I’d be happy , really. Just honor the flag, pareho tayo na trabahante lang sa gobyerno,” he added.

Duterte on Sunday attended a dinner with the PSG and their families at the PSG Grandstand in Manila.

In his speech, the President reiterated his administration’s campaign against illegal drugs, and called on members of the PSG to help secure the country.

“You have to help us, you have to help the police because we cannot — well, maintain order throughout the land, every inch of the territory, that is impossible,” Duterte said.

He also committed his full support to the PSG and others in the uniformed services.

“I will be with you, I will support and you will have everything you need in destroying the enemy,” he said. (MNS)
