OPM legend Pilita Corrales celebrates her life and career in the upcoming concert, “An Evening with Pilita,” which will happen on November 17 at The Theatre at Solaire.
“It is exciting. I will be at The Theatre at Solaire, which is beautiful and the sound is world class,” she said.
Corrales is the latest OPM icon to perform in Solaire after the sold-out and well-reviewed concerts of Basil Valdez and Celeste Legaspi.
“Solaire is home of OPM and what better way for us to establish this than to highlight ‘icons of Filipino music.’ Who can be more iconic that Pilita Corrales? Her distinct voice, performance style and image have regaled generations. She is the only one to have had numerous hit albums in Spanish, English, Tagalog and Bisaya,” noted Solaire’s entertainment director Audie Gemora.
The concert got its title refers from television musical show that Corrales hosted that aired on ABS-CBN in the ‘60s and early ‘70s.
For the one-night-only concert, Corrales will be backed up by the AMP Band together with the string section of the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra with Mel Villena as musical director.
The veteran performer will also be joined by daughter Jackie Lou Blanco, Ramon Christopher Gutierrez and granddaughter Janine Gutierrez.
Her friends Nikki Ross and Angie de la Cruz, better known as the Wing Duo, will also be part of the show. (MNS)
