MANILA (Mabuhay) – Filipinos emerged as the third most confident consumers in the world, according to Nielsen’s latest consumer confidence and spending survey.
Though falling one notch from the previous quarter, Nielsen said Filipinos consumers are still upbeat about the country’s economy with eight out of 10 Filipinos confident about their personal finances and local job prospects.
The Philippines’ consumer confidence index score was 117 in the third quarter, down 5 points from the previous quarter, but still the highest in Southeast Asia.
Other ASEAN countries in the top 10 are Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam.
The Nielsen Consumer Confidence Index survey covers 30,000 respondents in 61 countries.
A score above 100 indicate optimism while a figure below that means pessimism. (MNS)
