Actor Mark Anthony Fernandez tested positive for using marijuana but not for shabu, a police official said Tuesday.
Central Luzon police director Aaron Aquino III said Fernandez underwent drug testing on Tuesday where he tested positive for the marijuana but negative for methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu).
“Screening and confirmatory tests conducted on the above-stated specimen gave negative result to the presence of methamphetamine and positive for THC-Metabolites, both dangerous drug,” the test result reads.
Fernandez is now detained in Pampanga after he was arrested for possessing one kilo of marijuana, a prohibited substance. No bail has been recommended for his release.
Although he claimed that he had no idea how the illegal substance got into his car, the actor admitted that he was on his way to meet a drug dealer in Angeles City.
Aquino said based on intelligence reports, Fernandez frequents the province to get his supplies. Fernandez admitted to marijuana use.
“Gamot ko yun pang kontra cancer. Ang alam ko at pagkakaintindi ko ay gusto nilang (gawing) legal ang marijuana. Hindi ako nag-atubili na bumili,” he said in an “Umagang Kay Ganda” interview.
“Hindi yan para ubusin ng isang araw. Pang matagalan yan, parang sigarilyo,” Fernandez added.
This is not the first time that Fernandez was involved in illegal drugs.
Fernandez, a son of the late actor Rudy Fernandez with actress Alma Moreno, voluntarily entered the Bicutan Rehabilitation Center in 2004.
Six months later, he made a showbiz comeback.
He did a couple of shows in GMA-7 including “Rhodora X” and “Beautiful Stranger.”
A charge for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act has been filed against Fernandez before the prosecutor’s office. (Sunnex)
