MANILA (Mabuhay) – Lawyer Joel Bodegon allayed fears Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr. will not come back.
In fact, Bodegon said Revilla, his wife Lani, and children will only stay in Israel for two weeks. Upon returning, the senator will
announce something important, he said.
The lawyer said: “Siya ho ay babalik at magkakaroon nga ho siya ng mahalagang announcement o deklarasyon pagbalik niya at dapat abangan ng ating mga kababayan kung ano po ‘yun.”
He did not explain further.
He said it’s unfair that some quarters are already theorizing that Revilla left to escape the rule of law. Revilla and several lawmakers have been tagged in the pork barrel scam.
A plunder case is already before the Office of the Ombudsman. The Department of Justice, however, failed to get Revilla and the others’ passports cancelled.
“Si [Justice Secretary Leila de Lima], wala naman siyang karapatan na siya’y pigiling umalis. Wala namang warrant of arrest o hold depature order na na-issue laban sa kanya mula sa anumang sangay ng pamahalaan,” Bodegon said.
Revilla’s trip was also given the green light by Senate President Franklin Drilon. Malacanang was also informed of his travel.
Revilla left for the Holy Land on Saturday night.
“Mukha yatang may kasama pa silang pari doon, talagang Holy Land tour itong kinuha ni Senator Bong,” Bodegon said. (MNS)
