Duterte names Paynor as PHL envoy to US

MANILA, Aug 30 (Mabuhay) – President Rodrigo Duterte said Monday evening that he will appoint Marciano Paynor, the Palace chief of protocol, as the Philippine Ambassador to the United States.

Paynor will replace outgoing ambassador Jose Cuisia.

As chief of mission, Paynor’s appointment must be confirmed by the Commission on Appointments.

Paynor, an alumnus of the Philippine Military Academy, previously served in diplomatic posts in San Francisco, Washington D.C., Gabon, Budapest, Rome, Israel, Cyprus and Los Angeles.

Duterte said he is recommending former journalist and diplomat Robert Borje as Paynor’s replacement.(MNS)
