MANILA, Nov. 28 (Mabuhay) – Presidential aspirant Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte on Friday named Senator Alan Peter Cayetano as his running mate.

In a press conference in Davao City, Duterte said he will support Cayetano as his vice president, even without the approval of his political party, PDP-Laban.

He also added that he is willing to withdraw his candidacy as a representative of the party if PDP-Laban refuses to let him run with Cayetano.

Cayetano thanked Duterte for choosing him as his running mate, adding that he is also willing to make sacrifices.

“Masaya at hanga ako sa commitment ni mayor sa akin. Ako man ay handang magsakripisyo para sa kanya, mag-materialize lang ang Duterte presidency,” Cayetano said.

Duterte officially filed his candidacy for president after he withdrew his COC for mayor in Davao City.

His representative, Atty. Salvador Medialdea, filed Duterte’s COC on his behalf at the Law Department of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) office in Manila shortly before noon Friday.

Duterte attached his certificate of nomination and acceptance from the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban).(MNS)
