MANILA  (PNA) – Eighteen policemen have already been dismissed as part of the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) efforts to cleanse its ranks of corrupt personnel.

This was confirmed by PNP Chief Dir. Gen. Ronaldo “Bato” dela Rosa in his speech on Wednesday during the 115th Anniversary of the Police Service in Camp Crame, Quezon City.

President Rodrigo Duterte was the guest of honor and speaker during the event.

Dela Rosa further reported that two other policemen were suspended and 32 are facing cases involving illegal drugs as part of the PNP’s internal cleansing.

Expressing dismay over the involvement of some policemen in illegal activities, he reminded his men that their duty is to serve and protect the people and not to earn money.

The PNP Chief earlier ordered more than 30 policemen in the “narco-list” of President Duterte to surrender in Camp Crame.

Dela Rosa also gave assurances that the PNP is determined to cleanse its ranks of corrupt policemen while pursuing the President’s anti-narcotics war.
