MANILA, Aug 24 (Mabuhay) — Sen. Leila de Lima on Wednesday again denied having any involvement in drug activities in the country, including inside the national penitentiary.

The former Justice secretary branded as a “complete falsehood and an absolute lie” fresh accusations from President Rodrigo Duterte of De Lima’s complicity, as allegedly shown by a drug matrix of the structure of the illegal drug trade at the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa.

“Alam niyo iyong aking mga malalapit na kaibigan, ang advice nila sa akin ay huwag na muna po ako nagsasalita tungkol sa issue na yan,” De Lima told reporters.

“I say it again, those accusations against my alleged drug links are complete falsehoods and absolute lie,” she added.

Duterte claimed that De Lima was allegedly the highest official linked to the illicit trade.

“I will show to you maybe this week the matrix, vina-validate ko lang, iyong matrix ng Muntinlupa.

Nandoon si De Lima sa matrix so it would show her role there,” he told reporters in a chance interview in Malacañang on Tuesday.

The NBP is run by the Bureau of Corrections, which is under the Department of Justice, of which De Lima was the previous Secretary.
