Los Angeles – In another sign of strong momentum, Congressman Brad Sherman has announced his endorsement of Alex De Ocampo for Los Angeles City Council District 13 in the March election.

Congressman Brad Sherman stated, “Alex is a fighter for Los Angeles and it’s time that we foster a new generation of leadership for our city. As a lifelong member of our community, he knows firsthand the potential we have as a city and has the experience as a manager to help grow our economy and make LA great again. I enthusiastically support Alex De Ocampo for Council District 13 and look forward to working with him to move Los Angeles forward.”

Sherman’s endorsement follows several other prominent endorsements including State Controller John Chiang, former Assembly members Warren Furutani, Fiona Ma, and Pedro Nava, the California State University Northridge (CSUN) Young Democrats, and hundreds of community members and neighborhood leaders.

De Ocampo was one of the first candidates to complete his signature gathering and officially qualify for the ballot, as well as finish second in funds raised at the last financial deadline, having outraised the top fundraiser during that period.

De Ocampo is the director of a charitable foundation and a past member of the Greater Griffith Park Neighborhood Council. He is a lifelong Angeleno and a first generation American whose parents emigrated from the Philippines prior to Alex’s birth. As a charitable foundation director, De Ocampo has overseen a $200 million endowment focusing on large-scale non-profit projects in Los Angeles. He was the first Filipino American elected as President of the California Young Democrats.
