MANILA, Aug 17 (Mabuhay) – Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa said Wednesday he will submit to President Rodrigo Duterte and Interior Secretary Mike Sueno a list of barangay chairmen who refuse to cooperate in the administration’s anti-illegal drugs campaign.

“May mga report na nakarating sa atin na may mga barangay captains na hindi cooperative sa ating Oplan Tokhang, yung iba kinu-question pa nila,” Dela Rosa said in an interview after the launch of the PNP’s health and fitness program in Camp Crame,Quezon City.

“I will submit the report to the SILG and to the President, of course, para malaman nila ang status ng mga barangay captains na napili na huwag mag-cooperate sa ating anti-drug campaign,” he added.

He said he cannot understand the opposition of some barangay captains to Oplan Tokhang, where police officers visit the houses of drug suspects and urge them to surrender.

“I don’t know the reason why. It’s either on the take, baka meron silang pinuprotektahan, tumatanggap sila sa illegal drug business sa kanilang area o talagang takot lang sila dahil malapit na yung barangay elections at ayaw nilang mabawasan ng boto. May kanya-kanyang circumstances yan eh,” he said.

He said the barangay officials should show their constituents that they are with the administration in the fight against illegal drugs.

“Dapat nga the more na magpakita sila ng kaukulang pagsisikap.

He said officials in poor barangays are mostly questioning Oplan Tokhang and barangay leaders in posh villages and barangays are most cooperative.

But we will find ways.
