Journey vocalist Arnel Pineda is still hoping that the American classic rock band will return the Philippines next year despite the recent arrest of drummer Deen Castronovo for domestic violence.
Pineda reported that Journey is looking for a new drummer after Costronovo admitted that he was fired from the band.
“We are fine. Magpapalit lang kami ng drummer,” Pineda said.
“I’m hoping na makarating pa din kami dito next year pero mahirap,” he conceded.
Pineda is confident though that their scheduled US tour for 2016 will push through with a new drummer. The tour will start mid-May and will run until the end of September.
Meanwhile, Pineda, who is on his eighth year with the band, elaborated on earlier reports indicating that he no longer has a contract with Journey.
“Wala na, hand shake na lang ito, gentlemen’s agreement na lang ito. Pero nag-claim sila hanggang buo ang Journey ako ang singer. Kapag nagwatak sila, that’s it. Sabay-sabay kaming magpapahinga. ‘Yun ang sabi nila,” Pineda said
Pineda said being Journey’s frontman changed his life. “Naging kumportable, mas natustusan ko ang pag-aaral ng mga anak ko,” he said.
Journey was supposed to perform at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in 2013 but the concert was cancelled.
Pineda and the band first performed in Manila in 2009, which was released on DVD. (MNS)
