MANILA, Feb 16 (Mabuhay) — The camp of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ based in Davao City denied that he was arrested and detained in Hawaii.
Atty. Bobet Torreon, Quiboloy’s spokesperson, said only a random check inside the plane he was in occurred.
Torreon also clarified that the cash confiscated by US authorities did not belong to Quiboloy, but to a US citizen identified as Felina Salinas.
He however did not confirm if the total amount of cash confiscated was indeed $350,000.
It was reported Thursday that Quiboloy and six others were detained in Honolulu after US Customs agents found $350,000 and rifle parts inside the private plane he boarded.
Under US laws, travelers should declare the amount of dollars they were bringing out of the country if this exceeded $10,000.
Salinas was charged for attempted bulk cash smuggling. She has since posted bail.
Torreon confirmed that there was a firearm on board, but that it belonged to security personnel.
Quiboloy arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 past 6:30 p.m. Thursday night.
He is set to attend a concert rally in Antipolo. (MNS)
