MANILA, Feb 27 (Mabuhay) — Two minority congressmen are seeking house arrest for detained Senator Juan Ponce Enrile.

House minority leader Ronaldo Zamora and Congressman Rodito Albano are filing a resolution urging the anti-graft court to grant the former Senate President house arrest.

In their resolution, the two cited humanitarian considerations.

They said Enrile’s advanced age and current state of health require certain medical procedures and facilities to ensure his continued well-being.

They noted that Philippine National Police (PNP) Health Service spokesman Chief Inspector Raymond Santos has admitted in news reports that the PNP General Hospital lacks the necessary facilities to properly address the senator’s medical needs.

Enrile is under hospital arrest at the PNP General Hospital in connection with the plunder charges he is facing before the Sandiganbayan.

But early Thursday, he was rushed to the Makati Medical Center because of pneumonia.

Enrile has been detained in connection with the pork barrel scam cases linked to Janet Lim Napoles. (MNS)
